Registered Massage Therapy & Your Self Management Program

Mar 19, 2021

When you book in for a massage with Active Physio Works, our Registered Massage Therapists utilize manual therapy techniques along with assisted stretching and cupping. Treatment also included a self-management program with the following components.

In order to best help you meet your treatment needs, we may ask you to do some stretching and strengthening at home, as a part of your treatment plan. It is to maintain the healing your therapist has helped you accomplish until your next visit. Each individual plan incorporates independence and control in your therapy. It’s a great way to take back your life and build confidence in your abilities. As well, it helps progress your recovery in a timelier fashion, allowing you more time to do the things you love.

Self-Management Programs are specifically designed for each client. The plan will vary depending on the type of injury, when the injury happened, and your ability to take care of the injury.

These programs include, but are not limited to, hydrotherapy, stretching, strengthening, self-massage, or self-joint mobilizations. Sometimes tools are used, such as foam rollers, tennis balls, hot/cold packs, bolsters, weights, yoga mats, and or resistance bands (with most of these items available for purchase at our clinics).

Your Registered Massage Therapist will individualize your plan based on the injury, and take into account your work and home schedule. Each plan is specific to your needs and takes multiple factors into account, including how comfortable and confident our clients are in the program we give them. Everything is done with consent. If you are not comfortable or in pain with the program your therapist has given, be sure to discuss with us at your session.

Self-Management Programs are an excellent way to get in touch with your body as well, it’s key to communicate with your therapist about your progress after your last visit and any concerns that may have come up when managing your symptoms at home. We can work with you to adjust and manage your plan as needed.

Incorporating self-management programs to your massage therapy treatment provides a holistic approach to maximize your massage therapy treatment.

Book in for a massage today by calling 780-458-8505. We look forwarding to working with you to meet your goals.
