Rija Kamran, PT

Rija graduated with a Doctor of Physiotherapy degree in 2019. Driven by a commitment to evidence-based practice, she went on to complete a PhD in Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Alberta in 2025. This specialized training has enriched her clinical perspective, ensuring her approach is grounded in the latest research.
She is deeply passionate about helping people thrive rather than just recover. She brings a diverse background, with experience in acute care, post-surgical rehabilitation, and community physical therapy. Beyond the clinic, she actively supports community health, having run exercise classes for seniors to help them maintain an active lifestyle. In her practice, Rija uses a holistic, patient-centred approach to equip individuals with the tools they need to enhance their overall health and well-being.
Rija's clinical practice is deeply informed by her doctoral research and academic work, which spans several key areas in rehabilitation. Her expertise includes optimizing outcomes for complex conditions like TMD and Chronic Lateral Epicondylitis, as well as contributing to enhanced transitions in care for people with spinal cord injury.
She firmly believes that patient education is the cornerstone of a successful rehabilitation program. She focuses on empowering individuals by thoroughly explaining their condition, including its etiology (cause/mechanism), so they become active and informed partners in their recovery journey. Her treatment plans effectively blend therapeutic exercise, targeted manual therapy techniques, and condition-specific education.
When not in the clinic, Rija is an avid baker and skier. You can find her spending her summers at the farmer's market gathering ingredients to try new recipes, and her winters on the slopes enjoying the mountains.
