Kendra Wilson, PT, BScPT
Kendra is an experienced rehabilitation professional (18+years) who graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelors of Science in Physical Therapy. As a therapist, Kendra believes in an individualized and “hands on” approach to therapy. Her emphasis on education, therapeutic exercise, and proper technique helps clients achieve a full recovery through increased knowledge and awareness. Kendra will help you, as well as challenge you, and teach you how to effectively manage your injury and stay healthier in the future as a result of her expertise. She is particularly passionate about strength, core stability and functional exercises for your return to work or sport.
Kendra continues to educate herself and has taken several courses/ has ongoing training in several areas including:
- Complete Concussion Management certified
- GLA:D™ certified trainer
- advanced Level 3 manual therapist
- Gunn IMS, (needling for chronic muscle tightness and neuropathic pain
- Treatment and prevention of running injuries
- Spinal stabilization
- Mackenzie and lumbar stabilization
- Certification to refer for X-rays, ultrasounds or MRIs
She has a special interest in strengthening and preventative treatment for osteoarthritis and joint replacement rehabilitation. She travels to Ecuador every year (2010-2019) where she volunteers with the medical mission “Operation Esperanza” (Hope). For 10 days a year Kendra helps with the rehabilitation of Ecuadorians after hip and knee replacement surgeries. With this experience Kendra realizes the importance of ‘preventative health care’ for the treatment of common joint pain caused by osteoarthritis in our population.
Kendra lives in St. Albert with her husband and four active children, where she can be seen at most gyms, fields and arenas throughout the community. She actively volunteers for teams and with many community events including:
- Concussion baseline testing for minor hockey, football and soccer teams - Edmonton/St. Albert
- Local sporting event volunteer
- Edmonton ITU international triathlon
- Roar of the Rings curling championships
- St. Albert Road Race & Triathlon Triathlon
- Canadian gymnastics championships
- Kids of steel events
John Reid Memorial hockey tournament
Prior to becoming a physical therapist, Kendra was member of the Canadian National Alpine Ski team where she competed on the World Cup circuit, racing in the World championships in 1989 and 1992, and an alternate member of the Olympic team in 1988. She was ranked 14th overall in the world in 1991. Kendra has also worked with international athletes as a “Strength Training Consultant” prior to becoming a Physical Therapist.
