Shahnaz Sheikh, PT, BPT, DPT

With over two and a half decades of global experience, Shahnaz brings a wealth of clinical expertise and a deeply compassionate, evidence-based approach to physiotherapy. He believes that true recovery begins with a deep understanding of the body, dedicating his practice to helping patients relieve pain, regain mobility, and achieve long-term functional independence.
Shahnaz’s commitment to lifelong learning is reflected in his robust educational background. After completing his initial BSc in 1994, he graduated from the prestigious Manipal University in India with a degree in Physiotherapy in 1998. Always striving to deliver the highest standard of care, he went on to earn his Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) from the University of St. Augustine (Florida, USA) in 2019.
Shahnaz continuously updates his clinical toolkit and holds specialized certifications in Spinal Manipulation, Dry Needling, Concussion Therapy, and Kinesiotaping. Since moving to Canada in 2021, Shahnaz has integrated his rich international experience into his local practice. Over his career, he has successfully treated patients across diverse cultural settings, including India, Nepal, the Middle East, the Bahamas, and Canada.
While Shahnaz is highly skilled in treating sports injuries, motor vehicle accident (MVA) recovery, chronic pain, and post-surgical rehabilitation, he holds a special clinical interest in shoulder and neck dysfunctions.
Shahnaz’s practice is built on the foundation of a detailed assessment and active patient education. He collaborates closely with each individual to formulate a personalized treatment plan tailored to their unique lifestyle and goals. His holistic, evidence-based sessions blend:
· Manual therapy to restore movement.
· Targeted electrotherapeutic modalities for pain management.
· Customized exercise programs to rebuild strength and prevent future injury.
Outside of his practice, Shahnaz lives a vibrant life in Edmonton. He is happily married to a fellow physiotherapist, and they are the proud parents of two sons—one studying at the University of Alberta and the other in high school. An avid sportsman and passionate cricket player, Shahnaz has played the sport in every country he has called home and currently enjoys competing in the Edmonton Cricket League.
