Alyssa McNamara, MScPT
Aly graduated from the University of Alberta with a Masters of Science in Physical Therapy, and an undergraduate degree in Biomedical Health Science from Saint Leo University.
Athletics have always been a big part of Aly’s life, having competed as a competitive swimmer during her youth and at a higher level during her undergraduate degree. Following her swimming career Aly took up an interest in long distance running and triathlons. Injuries are no stranger to Aly with her interest in sport, which fueled her passion for active rehabilitation. She is intrigued by active individuals of every age and is excited to guide them through meaningful activity related to their ailment. Her treatment style is largely based on education, exercise, and manual therapy; ensuring that each patient receives an individualized program that can fit into their day.
Aly understands the importance of movement in everyday life, and the impact that an injury could have on important tasks such as work, home life, and leisure activities. She is dedicated to helping individuals return to their daily activities and enjoyable movement. She works with her patients to create an individualized program specific to them, their injury, and their movement level.
Outside of work you can find Aly out on the trails for runs or walks with her dogs, in the pool swimming laps, or reading a book (preferably in the sun during the summer months). In the winter she can be found under a blanket working on her latest knitting project or bundled up trying to enjoy winter running.
She is happy to work with patients from athletes with sports injuries, to individuals injured at work, and those involved in accidents. Regardless of your injury she is excited to work with you through your healing journey!
