Covid-19 Update - Registered Massage Therapy Services - May 19

May 19, 2020

First off, thank you to our wonderful patients for your continued support and understanding during this time. We appreciate how responsive you have been as we navigate the Covid-19 reality. Thank you to our team for adjusting your schedules, and thank you to our staff for all of your assistance and support over the last few weeks.

The MTAA (Massage Therapist Association of Alberta) has confirmed that Massage Therapy is categorized to re-open in Stage 2.

Recently, Premier Kenney said during a media session that Stage 2 would not happen before June 19th.

With constantly changing restrictions, timelines and public health mandates, we are closely watching all updates from the Province and Alberta Health Services. The latest update has been that Alberta Health Services, wants to wait until we are further into stage one before they give approval or advise on the changes they would like to see in a plan that becomes relevant in Stage 2.

The MTAA are closely watching the recommendations of AHS, the Chief Medical Officer of Health and various regulatory health colleges in Alberta at this time.

Once we enter Stage 2 and Massage Therapy is once again available, we will re-open the practice at our clinics following the strict health and safety measures in the clinic – we have and will be adding additional plexiglass screens for all receptionists at our clinics.

For all new massage clients, forms will be sent virtually, therefore limiting the contact with reception once on site. We are screening patients before they attend their session, over the phone and in person; and ensuring everyone is washing their hands before and after their visit. Each location is following very strict cleaning policies and following your appointment, all sites and equipment used is immediately sterilized.  Our staff will be wearing masks and gloves while on-site. Waiting rooms have been distanced according to Alberta Health guidelines and our sites have recently been inspected to ensure all standards are being met.

For those attending in person, please follow the following Covid-19 pre-screening:

  • You have been or suspect you have been exposed to Covid-19
  • You have returned from travel outside of Canada after April 10, 2020
  • You or anyone in your immediate family/residence is ill (including sore throat, cold or allergies
  • You are immuno-suppressed

Thank you for your continued support and know that we are here for you each step of the way – whether it be through virtual care, or in clinic, and are grateful to each of you for your support as we navigate this ever-changing time together.

Sincerely,
James Dean
